Marijampolė Puppet Theatre
Marijampolė Puppet Theatre started in 2015, when a group of theatre professionals got together for a joint project, the mystery play “Šv. Jurgio legenda. Herbo misterija” (The Legend of St. George. The Mystery of the Coat of Arms) that was shown during Marijampolė City Days. In 2016, the Puppet Theatre got premises in the house of Marijampolė Drama Theatre and since then the two theatres have been working hand in hand. Until present, repertoire of Marijampolė Puppet Theatre has consisted of three shows for children of different age groups, and educational programme for elementary school children. At the core of the troupe are the scenographer Deimantas Populaigis, the puppet theatre director Milda Mažėtytė-Antanauskienė and the theatre pedagogue Alma Vosylienė. Shows are performed by amateur, yet very experienced actors of the theatre. The Marijampolė Puppet Theatre continues the traditions of its predecessor; the first professional puppet theatre of Lithuania that was founded in Marijampolė in 1958, and later was moved to Kaunas.
